Under 9 Match report, game v Bedale 2nd May 2018
The under 9s ventured to Bedale on a cool and rather windy night and lost by twenty runs. Bedale batted first and scored 100 for 2 (=290 net), Richmondshire responded with 80 for 2 (=270 net).
We scored 29 of our runs off the bat, Bedale scored 32 of their runs off the bat, the difference between the two sides was in the amount of wayward bowling; Bedale had a couple of pretty handy bowlers who did not bowl wides, there was some sound defending with the bat which prevented these good bowlers taking any wickets,
The scorecard shows that Alex was our top scorer with 10 runs, followed by Emmy with 7 and Harry with 5, Daisy also ran with great enthusiasm, somewhow managing not to run our her partner Emmy. Cicely and Ralph bowled the fewest wides, the wickets we took were both runouts as a result of sharp fielding.
We don't have a game next week, the team for the next match will change, not because players are being dropped but because we have a relatively large squad and I want to give games to all those who are deserving of a game.
