Weather and Training Friday 25th May

We have taken the decision to move today's AllStars session to Sunday from 12.00 to 13.00, when the weather should be better and there will be many other attractions at the ground.

Under 9s and under 11s also off as it is still raining and outfield is wet. There will still be entertainment and BBQ in teepee on outfield.

U11 Match conceded by Billingham

Unfortunately, Billingham have conceded the game the Under-11s (NYACC) were supposed to play against them earlier in the season.

Under-11s vs Barnard Castle

The Under-11s (NYACC) game away to Barnard Castle has now been rescheduled from this Sunday to next Friday night, starting at 6pm. Team will be posted soon.

Under 9 Match Report

The under 9s travelled to Masham and bowled first, because one of the Masham players had instead travelled to Richmond, returning in time to bat in the last pair.

The scorecard shows that we took 9 wickets, 3 falling to Raam as Masham finished on 227 net. Bobby, Amelie and Becca all had very economical bowling figures.

The Richmondshire response was a score of 236 net, the net score did oscillate up and down quite a lot when William and Archie were batting together, William scored 17 off the bat, frantic running brought a few byes but also some run outs, 4 of the 5 wickets to fall being during their exciting partnership, which certainly kept them warm on what had become a rather cool night.

This was a good performance, I was probably harsher on wides when we were bowling, a well earned victory with a margin of 9 runs.

NYACC U13s vs Barnard Castle match report

On a lovely summers night at Barnard Castle with factor 50 sun cream on we lost the toss and were put into bat.

With an opening partnership of 51 we got off to a great start with some lovely shots and excellent running between the wickets and this carried on though out the innings, only losing one wicket. Finishing on 142 for 1. Alex Nimmo 30 Retired, Jake Percival 30 Retired, Kai York 29 not out and Gabriel Stewart 15 not out.

In reply Barnard Castle were always just in the game until the 18 over when Gabriel came on and bowled a double wicket maiden finishing with figures of 2-1-2-2. We also have a good run out by Thomas Wooff. Barnard Castle score 124-4.

Richmondshire winning by 18 runs after a good team performance well done to everyone.

Just a reminder that training this Wednesday night is at the school to meet at the Astro Turf 6.30 till 8.00

Friday night training

All Stars, Under-9s and Under-11s training will take place at the club on Friday night (25th May) from 6pm to 7.30pm. It will be the first night of our ALL Out! weekend so plenty going on, including BBQ, live music and the Tipi boundary bar.

Under-11 (Hambleton League) Match Report - Thornton Watless vs Richmondshire.

A great effort from the team tonight. We put Thornton Watless into bat and they scored 86 for 6 (net). A special mention on his match debut to Oliver Ashton who finished with 3 wickets for just 2 runs off 2 overs, including a maiden. He also made a great catch to give Amelie Butterwick a wicket.

In reply, Richmondshire scored 117 for 3 (net), winning by 31 runs) Tom Bromirskyj got things off to a great start with 25 and Oliver Ashton and William Shaefer both weighed in with 15 runs each.

All four pairs did really well keeping the score ticking over and crucially giving away few wickets.

Under-13s and Under-15s training

Under-13s and Under-15s training will be at Richmond School tomorrow (Wed) night from 6.30pm to 8pm.

Richmond vs Northallerton match report

A really good workout for all in the sun saw Richmond narrowly lose to Northallerton in a match that went to the last couple of balls

We bowled first with all 8 outfielders bowling at least 2 overs, and restricting Northallerton to 251 net, with 6 wickets falling. It was good to see all the bowlers bowling a nice line and length with very few wides or no balls, testament to their development and the coaching skills of Lee and the Wednesday night team!

We batted pretty decently too, again the pairs format ensuring all players got a good hit. We conserved wickets well for a final dart at the total by Alex and Gabriel. After some excellent shots, the tension mounted going into the last over where only an unlucky run-out cost us victory.

Under-11 (NYACC) Match report - Darlington vs Richmondshire, Sunday 13th May

Another tough fixture for the lads. Darlington batted first and scored 98 for 5. Andrew Ralph ended the game with 2 wickets for 11 runs off 3 overs with the other wickets coming from run-outs by Max Percival (2) and William Shaefer. Good bowling also from Jack Platt who conceded just 5 runs from his 2 overs.

In reply Richmondshire scored 93 but lost 9 wickets meaning Darlington won by 25 runs. Like last week we came up against a good wicket keeper which made scoring difficult. Joseph White (11 runs) and Jack Platt (6) put in a great effort as the last pair scoring 17 with Andrew Ralph and Finlay Clarke both scoring 8.

The boys are doing well as they get used to playing with each other and next it's Newton Aycliffe at home on Sunday.

Raam raid at Richmond School

Reports are coming in of an incident at Richmond School. A young male was seen wielding apiece of wood, egged on by accomplices, followed by a big cheer. The incident occurred just after 8.00 pm tonight.

Update 10.00pm:

Our under 9s beat Northallerton under 9s by 4 runs. Northallerton scored 75 for 5, so 250 net, we scored 69 for 3, 254 net.

Northallerton batted first, Becca, William, Ryan and Raam all bowled very tidily in their first games of the season in this format, Raam bowled a super final over in which he hit the stumps twice, finishing with three wickets.

In our reply, we did not get ahead of the Northarlleton score until the final over. Northallerton had a couple of strong players who when they were not bowling were in specialist fielding positions, this and some pearollers from the less able Northallerton bowlers kept the score down until Raam arrived at the wicket, he finished on 20 not out, sealing the victory with his fourth four followed by sound defence.

Our bowling was much improved compared to the first game, there is still plenty of opportunity to improve both skills and game awareness. I would particularly like to see some carefully placed singles (and fours) with fewer "big swing no ding" occurrences.

We should be away at Masham next Wednesday, just need to confirm the fixture with them.

Softball festival, Sunday 1st July

We have had an invitation to participate in the Middleton in Teesdale softball festival on Sunday 1st July. This has always been an enjoyable event and will be suitable for players from both U9 and U11 age groups, though there is an NYACC U11 hard ball fixture home to Seaton Carew that morning, so anybody wanting to play in both may have a busy day. (Or their parents will). I'm looking for parents who would be willing to help out looking after our team(s) that day, teams will be sorted nearer the date.

Weekend round-up adult teams

It was a busy weekend for the adult teams, with plenty of success. To read the match reports please visit the main club website.
